Well-child visits or health checkups begin shortly after birth and last through the teen years. These visits help your family doctor monitor your child’s health and stages of development, and detect any possible issues early to give the child the best chance for proper and successful treatment.
Your doctor will recommend the best schedule for your child’s checkups. Here is an example:
3 to 5 days old, by 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, and 18 months
After the age of 3 health checkups are usually recommended annually through the teen years.
Is your child up to date on their wellness visits? Talk to your family doctor if you are not sure or have questions.
