Updated Alcohol Guidelines

#DryJanuary may be over, but Canada’s new alcohol guidelines might prompt you to rethink the way you drink.

The Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse and Addiction (CCSA) has drastically reduced its recommended consumption levels for the first time in 11 years.

While the latest reports suggest no amount of alcohol is safe, the CCSA recommends no more than two drinks for men and women per week to avoid negative alcohol consequences.

Moderate consumption is three to six drinks per week, while anything above is deemed high risk for adverse health impacts. #LessIsBetter!

Learn how to make informed decisions. Try these tips to limit alcohol consumption.

·        keep track of the number of drinks you consume per week

·        stick to the limits you set for yourself

·        choose drinks with a lower percentage of alcohol

·        drink slowly in small sips

·        always have a pitcher of water on hand

·        for every drink of alcohol, have one non-alcoholic drink
